Feature Artist : Claudio Castillo
Artist Statement:
His world of watercolors, dreamlike poetic landscapes, and animation conspire together in Claudio Castillo’s creations of “living paintings” whose images endlessly transform in a non-linear progression, in which no single image will ever be precisely repeated, at least not for hundreds of thousands of years.
Castillo’s iconography resonates as organic matter as well as in abstract forms: water, flowers, vines, grass, roots, sky, rocks in concert with the recently integrated natural cycles of the moon and tides, which are controlled by real-world, real time cycles. The work reflects puzzling juxtapositions: impermanence and the infinite, fine art and digital technology, originals and replication.
